Lace

Lace is, by it’s very nature, fragile, delicate and demands special care. Its ephemeral nature enhances everything that comes in contact with it, just as gold or precious stones enhance jewellery items. I try to capture this delicate aspect of lace in paint, as I could never capture it in actual threads. I don’t have any sewing or needlework skills and I envy those who are proficient in those arts. For me, it’s far easier to paint the impression of fine lace than it is to create it with threads and bobbins!
