The Teapot
I have used the same china teapot in many of my still life paintings over the years. It has been with me on my journey of discovery in this medium.
Purple and Blue
Blue and purple flowers are featured in this still life post. I grow many of these flowers for my paintings or garner them from neighbouring streets.
Lace
Making lace requires much care and skill. Fine lacework adds value and class to any object to which it is attached. I enjoy painting lace because of its ephemeral, precious values.
Nasturtium Still Life
Nasturtium leaves and flowers are always a popular still life subject. They are always colourful and sometimes triffid like, giving rise to a great variety of still life paintings.
Gum Blossoms
Many different types of eucalypt produce flowers. These flowers lend much character to our streets and suburbs. The blossoms make beautiful subject matter for still life painting.
Camellias
Camellias flower in early winter when not much else is flowering. Therefore they make great subjects for still life painting at that time of the year.
Tibouchinas
The royal purple of the tibouchina flowers beautify the streets and suburbs of Brisbane. Their rich colours can be seen almost all year round in Brisbane.
Log Cabin
Love, persistence skill and care go into the making of Log Cabin quilts, and these still life paintings are an attempt to catch a little of the spirit that is sewn in to these fabrics.
