The Green Room
A room is nothing without windows, they give character to a room and ambience to a whole house. However windows also give us a peek into the less-carefully controlled world outside. Modern houses have a lot more glass than their older counterparts. The cost of glass panes came down dramatically about 1960 and houses built later than that date have much larger windows. However the older windows often gave the rooms more character.

Windows in Venice have a different purpose of life to those in Australia. In Australia we might have by laws that prohibit the draping towels on the handrail of balconies, but in Venice hanging the washing out at the window is a way of life.
