Tithonias
These blossoms look like sunflowers, but they are Tithonias, sometimes called Mexican Sunflowers or even Japanese Sunflowers. They grow profusely on the banks of a creek in my suburb. In winter they are a riot of colour when not much else is blooming. That’s why they feature among my still life paintings. I have added a photograph of the actual plant and also a couple of paintings of real sunflowers so you can see the difference.
Next Exhibition
My next art exhibition will be held at the Brisbane Institute of Art from 11th to the 23rd November 2022. Send me a note and I’ll remind you before my art show starts. Christine.
