A sunny veranda looking out over a tropical garden has inspired many of my paintings. We would all like to have the time to relax in such a comfortable spot.

Latest NewsBy Christine Atkins28 February 2025

I use lemons in still life paintings to contrast with the many blue objects that I paint. Blue is my favourite colour and lemons make an obvious counterpoint.

People sit in deckchairs in the shade, others watch the waves.

Beaches

Latest NewsBy Christine Atkins27 January 2025

Summer is the time to enjoy the beach, the hot sun and the cool wind coming in with the waves. Here is a collection of some of my beach paintings.

Horses and foals rest in the shade of a big tree. Dappled sunlight falls on several of the horses.

Horses

Latest NewsBy Christine Atkins15 January 2025

I enjoy sketching and painting horses. They are patient animals and will stand still for easy sketching.

Eight O'clock flowers are in an old glass oil jug with the plate behind them.

Long Shadows

Latest NewsBy Christine Atkins30 November 2024

Long shadows in a painting tell part of the story depicted in the painting. However the shadows have to be consistent, accurate and convincing.

A glass vase of wattle blooms is set against a dark blue background. The vase itself rests on a cream doily.

Wattle Blooms

Latest NewsBy Christine Atkins11 November 2024

There are about 1000 different types of wattle native to Australia. I suspect most would make for great painting subjects.

Several cows wait to be fed near a feed trough. The farmer can be seen in the background getting their food ready.

Cattle
