Enjoying the Shade
The bright Queensland sunlight produces strong shadows and that’s the subject for today. Many of these paintings reflect the bright early morning light or the cool of the late afternoon. Whether we are people watching the cricket or horses getting out of the sun, we all seek out the shade. In Queensland we place our park benches in the shade of a tree. In other (cooler) parts of the world park benches are usually placed very much out in the open, so that people can enjoy the warmth of the sun. With our hot Queensland summers, shade is usually something we crave, in order to escape from the noonday sun. – the deeper shade the better!
