Chinese Lanterns
I have grown Chinese Lanterns ever since I have had a garden. It has poisonous leaves and flowers and that helps to keep most pests away. The small nectar-loving birds like to hang upside down to drink from it. It’s easy to grow, in all it’s an ideal plant. The beautiful bell-shaped flowers make for great painting material and the leaves and flowers last a long time in a vase. Beside that, it’s flowering season is very long, so it is available for painting for a considerable part of the year. In all, an ideal plant! All the flowers come from my garden. Some of the paintings show an entirely different leaf shape; that’s from different plants I have grown.
