Old Vehicles

Thorneycroft and Chickens
Today’s post is about old forms of transport. Over the years I have come across many old vehicles, most of them long past their prime and left abandoned to their fate. Even something rusting away in a paddock still has a lot of character and that makes it interesting.

Gala Day at the Folk Museum
Then there are the old timers, helping at the farm machinery display at the folk museum, remembering old times and trying to clutch on to the years that have now gone over them. Threshing grain the hard way, just as it was done in the good old days.

Old Dray

Dray with Chickens
Some of the old vehicles have been re-imagined in a different background. You can see this in the paintings of the Thorneycroft truck and the old bullock dray. I sketched many of these scenes on farms and where ever there are farms, there are chickens. There is nothing like chickens to bring their own brand of new life to a painting.
