Diagonals

Wattle and Bird

Diagonal Shadows
Diagonals There is nothing special about this green bird, it is just a cheap fairground bird on a stick and it holds no particular warm memories in my heart. It is just that I like diagonals in a painting because they make the finished work less formal and more interesting. So the bird has found its way into many of my paintings. Enamel ladles with their long diagonal handles are also very useful for creating an interesting pattern of shadows, inviting to the eye. I have also included examples of elongated morning shadows across a veranda and long diagonal gum leaves that cast interesting shadows.
