During 2020, the pattern of my life was not greatly altered. I had to cancel my proposed 2020 exhibition, true, but I still kept painting. Since travel was restricted, my focus was on still life paintings. I grow some flowers with a view to painting them and that gave me a ready source of inspiration. Similarly, I often use flowers from neighbourhood street trees in my paintings. I scout for these while doing morning exercise in lockdown. The whole suburb is then a source of subject matter. Flame Lily is a typical example of a painting subject first seen on my morning walk.
