I came across an old photo album and I found some photos of my first solo exhibition. It was in 1982 – a long time ago. The venue was the Staff Club of the University Of Queendland, at St Lucia, where I was an art student at the time. As can easily be seen from the photos, it was a very basic premises – but hey! I sold a few paintings in that first solo exhibition, it was good experience and since then I have run about fifteen other solo shows. My general practice is to hire the gallery myself, contact the press, send out the invites and I’m present at the exhibition every day. I find it a good way to personally meet and get to know the buyers.
I can hardly remember the paintings in that first exhibition, it was a long time ago and my painting style has changed a lot since then. In 1982 I was only just starting out on my artistic journey. Photos from my more recent solo exhibitions can be seen on my website:
