Border Ranges
Queensland
There is a special vibe about life in Queensland, it’s the thing that makes it a very special place. I have felt it when seeing the awesome power of storms among the border ranges. I feel the same when seeing the clouds over the mountains down near Beaudesert; magnificent, but with just a tinge of dread. Or the green humidity of the Sunshine coast, it also has its own unique flavour, fleeting, easily missed, but glimpsed occasionally.

The essence of Queensland
Trying to capture in a painting these will o’ the wisp spirits of the South East corner of Queensland is not easy and I don’t claim to have succeeded, but I have tried and among many failures I have selected five paintings that (for me at least) try to bottle the essence of life in Queensland. I hope you also might be able to recognise something “Queenslandy” in the paintings also.
