Recently a friend and patron over many years asked me to turn to sports painting and paint his school rugby team playing a match with their greatest rivals. I don’t follow rugby, so it involved a lot of consultation (and consternation.) It wasn’t just a matter of getting the players in the right positions, but getting the scoreboard in view, showing an appropriate score! For those of you who do follow rugby and wish to offer improvements and suggestions, I’m afraid its too late. The painting is now hanging on the school wall, next my sports paintings of the the school’s cricket and rowing teams.
