Marine scenes and boats have always attracted me as a painting subject and I have painted these boats in Wynnum Creek a number of times since I first discovered them. The mangroves behind the boats give a good backdrop, screening out objects that might prove a distraction. Also the light coloured boats show up nicely against the deep shadow underneath the trees.
Boats in Wynnum Creek as a progressive painting
These are mostly small paintings, but a slightly larger one of the boats in Wynnum Creek can be seen as a part of my Progressive Paintings page. There I have photographed the developing painting several times on its journey to completion.
My next exhibition of paintings will be held at the Metcalfe Gallery, Brisbane Institute of Art, from 27th August to the 8th September, 2021. Please send me a note and I’ll email you an invitation two weeks before the next exhibition.
