The Half Dozen Group at St Marys

The Half Dozen art group has long been a staple in the Brisbane art scene. For many years the group rented the basement of St Mary’s church hall in Kangaroo Point for sketching classes. My painting, on one sketching day, was of the class itself, initially painted in pastel on the spot. This four-stage progressive painting shown here is an oil painting done afterwards in the studio. It shows the stages of the oil painting as it developed from the pastel sketches.
